From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Avery Island is known as the home of Tabasco brand pepper sauce, which has been manufactured on the Island by McIlhenny Company since 1868. Some of the peppers used in Tabasco sauce production are grown on the Island, and those grown elsewhere derive from seed stock created on the Island. Salt used in Tabasco sauce production is mined on the Island.

Some members of the McIlhenny family still reside on the Island with their Avery cousins, and many McIlhenny Company employees also live there in worker cottages, with one or both wage earners working in the fields, the factory, or the company's business office. It is not unusual for employees' families to have worked for the company for several generations

Up late, Trying to do more so the pain is more right now. Anyway, I took a stroll through my photo shoot of the puppies and thought I would try another. Sorry. I have to say as much wildlife as I have done I under estimated the quickness not seen by the naked eye of these little pups. Still I managed to get more in focus than out of focus but I hope to shoot them again if I can bribe the owner.

God is amazing in His creations and it always amazes me how even the smallest of creatures have their own uniqueness. He is awesome.

Thanks God for giving me the sight to see some of the precious creatures you have made.

"The Early Bird Catches the Worm"

I was sitting on my front stairs enjoying the nice spring day with my dog. I saw the Robin in my yard, i went inside to get my camera, anticipating that the bird would probably be gone when I returned. I was pleasantly surprised to see her still standing there, so I started to try and get a shot of her when she reached down and pulled up this worm. She was pretty far away from me and the reach of my camera so this is an extreme crop.

Yesterday was not a good day. I was notified at 10:00 that I was being laid off from Microsoft where I have worked for the past 8 years. Today is my last day. It was devastating news. I got my first job in 1968 and have never been fired until yesterday.
And thanks to all for the overwhelming response to my shot of Joey yesterday.

Update September 22, 2009: Imagine my surprise to see comments on this 9 month old picture today. I am still unemployed but we're getting by. Had a great summer with the grandkids. Getting used to watching how much we spend on things.
